Devin Broo has been named Executive Chef at the Belfry Inn & Bistro.
Growing up in The Woodlands, TX a northern suburb of Houston, Devin realized his passion for cooking by his love of watching the classic cooking shows on PBS television. While at Indiana University Devin was interested in seeking a career in culinary arts and in 2006 he completed the culinary arts program at Ivy Tech College in Indianapolis. Upon graduating with honors he went on to study abroad in Europe at the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners in Asti, Italy.
Devin’s early career started in some of Indianapolis’s most notable restaurants. Quickly coming up through the ranks he accepted his first sous chef position at the young age of 23 at Meridian Hills, a prominent country club in Indianapolis. It was here Devin was then offered a sous chef position at the Turnberry Isle Resort and Club in Miami, FL. Two years later he was moving to New York to work with legendary chef Daniel Boulud at Daniel his renowned, fine dining three-star Michelin restaurant.
It was here that he notably molded and refined his unique approach of cooking and the dining experience while holding multiple positions throughout the restaurant at Daniel. while contributing to the success of Restaurant Daniel and Chef Boulud, Devin accompanied him on many private dinners, domestically and internationally. Being personally drawn to the countryside’s vibrant culinary and agricultural lifestyle, he moved to Sandwich, Massachusetts. Joining owner and innkeeper Christopher Wilson as his Executive Chef at The Belfry Inne & Bistro, Broo brings his desire and creativity for wild foraging, innovative techniques and personalized cuisine. The surrounding farmland and aquaculture supports Broo’s devotion to gardening, fishing and working closely with local farms.
