Cape Cod Style Vacation

When planning your Cape Cod style vacation, you can rest assured knowing that there will be no shortage of activities that you can schedule during your trip. Whether you are looking for old fashioned beach getaways, hiking, cycling, restaurants, or museums, there is sure to be something that you will enjoy. Cape Cod National Seashore offers over 40,000 acres of wildlife preserves that stretch out over 40 miles with spectacular and breathtaking views of salt marshes, dunes, and rippling beach grass. While you should limit your swimming to the calmer bay side waters of the Cape, more skilled and adventurous swimmers can tackle the strong currents and rip tides that the Atlantic Ocean throws at them. Along the seashore there are also many hiking trails that will challenge any hiker, and there is even a visually impaired hiking trail equipped with guide ropes and Braille markings to let people know what is surrounding them. The Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary is an 1,100 acre paradise for those who love bird watching, staring out at the bay, canoe and kayak trips, and lavish walking trails. And for peddlers that can’t stand to go anywhere without their bikes, there is the 25 mile trail that runs from Dennis to South Wellfleet and is sure to be one of the most memorable bike rides you’ve ever had. After your long bike ride, you can head over to the Sandwich Board Walk for even more bike trails, wonderful swimming pools, and fantastic Sandwich Cape Cod Beaches.

Another must do activity to schedule while planning your Cape Cod style vacation is whale watching. From May through October, you can hop on a guided tour boat and witness some of the most beautiful humpbacks, minkes, right whales, and finbacks as they search for plankton in Stellwagen Bank. Or if you bring the whole family, you can take the Oceanquest cruise, a 90 minute guided tour that caters to children and teaches them about oceanography, lets them pull up a lobster trap, and even drag a plankton net. They can learn about the chemistry of seawater and many more great ocean dwelling facts that they are sure to remember for the rest of their lives. Regardless of what you are planning for your Cape Cod style vacation, you are sure to enjoy the many sights and sounds the Cape has to offer.
